And the Nominees Are…

WTW CoverLast week was crazy busy, but in the mix of all that I got some great news! The first was that I was nominated for Best New Author Category by the Building Relationships Around Books (BRAB) book club. I was surprised and humbled by the nomination. This is a super supportive book club that has lots of fun interaction with readers and authors.  I’ve been introduced to some great “new to me” authors, and my TBR pile has increased significantly since I joined. Now it’s up to the members of the group to vote on their favorite in each category.

Later in the week I found out my second book, Worth the Wait, was nominated in the Book Junkies Choice awards for best book in a series! The way this works is readers and authors can nominate their favorite book. The books with the most nominations make it to the finals and the winner chosen from there. You don’t have to be a member of the website to nominate, so feel free to continue to nominate Worth the Wait in this contest!

My fingers are crossed in both, but really, I’m just happy that someone thought to nominate me in the first place. I’ve only been at this for a year, and knowing that people are connecting with my stories means a lot to me.

He’s No Good, But So Tempting

Heartbreaker ButtonPicture this. You’ve had a few dates or encounters with a guy you really like. He’s handsome, smart, funny and you can’t stop the silly grin from coming to your face when your eyes meet his. It’s on the tip of your tongue to ask where things are going. Do your few dates mean you’re not in a relationship? Maybe you’re brave enough to actually ask. You hold your breath, already picturing the wedding and babies when he says he’s not looking for a commitment.

Here’s the moment of choice. A smart woman would reign in the feelings she was about to let loose and cut her losses. But many times we as women aren’t so smart. We really like this guy. Read more of this post

A Very Big Bed and a Very Hot Kiss: Worth the Wait Final Preview

Well, next week and Worth the Wait is here! Excited isn’t the right word. I’m hoping you all enjoy reading their story as much as i enjoy writing it. Today you’ll get to see Tasha and Jared’s first kiss. I love first kisses, and all of the anticipation that comes with feeling your lovers lips. Ah love…Enjoy!

TashaWTW Cover‘s attention went back to the bed. It couldn’t be ignored. She walked over to it. At five feet four inches she considered herself average height, but she would need a stepstool to get on it. How many women had he slept with in that bed? Probably dozens. The thought excited her. She wanted to experience what other women had with him, and she wanted it in that bed. She ran her hands along the smooth comforter and closed her eyes, imagining herself naked, sliding on the sheets.

“Do you like my bed?”

She snatched her hands away as if she’d been burned. She turned to the closet where Jared stood, watching her. He’d put on a loose fitting pair of jeans and a black shirt he hadn’t buttoned. His feet were still bare. She definitely liked what she saw.

“It’s a nice bed. Is this where we’ll…” Although she knew what she asked she couldn’t say the words. Read more of this post

So, Can You Do Me a Favor? Worth the Wait Preview 4

Well, it’s almost Christmas. Which means it’s probably nice and cold outside. So I’m giving you a hot excerpt from Worth the Wait. We’ve met Tasha and Jared and now it’s time for Tasha to ask Jared to do her a favor. Take her virginity. You’d think a man like Jared would quickly say yes, but despite his playboy ways being her first is a big deal. Two more weeks to go!

Jared took a few deep breaths. “I need to think about it.”

She squared her shoulders. “I need an answer before next week.”

His eyebrows shot up. “Why so soon?”

“It’s my birthday. I’d like to lose it before I turn thirty.”

“So you want to do it this week?”

Her heart lurched, but she tried to go for nonchalant and shrugged. “It’s not a big deal. I’ll follow you to your house and we can take care of it tonight.” Her voice shook.

Desire flashed in his eyes before he hid it and slowly shook his head. She’d seen guys look at her with desire before. He was tempted.

“We are not doing this tonight,” he said.

She stepped closer. “But we are going to do this?” Read more of this post

The Wolf Notices the “Lamb”-Worth the Wait Preview 3

Now that you’ve met Tasha I’m introducing you to my hero, Jared Patterson. If you read, You Can’t Plan Love, then you got a glimpse of this handsome playboy, and you know he’s not ready to settle down. In this scene, he is arriving at Central Midlands Recreation Commission’s annual Senior Olympics to help as a celebrity judge; something Tasha talked him into doing. He’s never paid much attention to Tasha sexually before, but that quickly changes. Enjoy!

WTW CoverJared smiled and nodded at the group of people who’d stopped when they recognized his car before approaching a young man directing traffic in the parking area. He asked the guy where the judges were supposed to register and was directed to the stage set up on the old playground.

People repeatedly stopped him along the way. He appreciated that people who purchased his fitness DVDs and followed his nutrition regimen saw results. Sometimes the best feedback he received came from impromptu testimonials when he was out and about. He answered questions and signed a few autographs, taking extra time to appreciate the ladies who happily flaunted new and improved figures. Read more of this post

I Need Someone to Take My Virginity: Worth the Wait Excerpt 2

Here is another excerpt from Chapter 1 of Worth the Wait. You all met the asshole, Charles, in last week’s excerpt. Now Tasha has called her sister Angie to update her on the horrible date and her idea to get rid of her virginity. Enjoy!

“I want to lose my virginity before my birthday.”

“Tasha, your birthday is next weekend. You’ve broken up with Charles, for a good reason, but now you’re single. How are you going to lose your virginity?”

“I can find someone to take it.”

Angie laughed. “Are you crazy? You can’t just get some random guy to sleep with you. Okay, let me rephrase that. You don’t need to find some random guy to sleep with you.”

Tasha laughed. “It won’t be random. I’ll find someone I know.”

When Angie spoke again all humor was out of her voice. “Tasha, I’m serious. Don’t even consider doing that. You want your first time to be special. It should be with the man you marry.” Read more of this post

Virginity Ruined Her Dating Life: Worth the Wait Preview

I’m very excited that my sophomore novel, Worth the Wait, debuts January 7, 2013. That’s only six weeks away! With the holidays, it’ll feel more like two weeks I’m sure. I haven’t blogged much about Worth the Wait and focused on my first novel. But now I’m ready to begin introducing you all to my new characters. I hope you enjoy Tasha and Jared’s road to love as much as I enjoyed writing it.

WTW CoverWhen a virgin frustrated by her nonexistent dating life, asks a playboy for a one-night stand, can they really ignore their attraction after the affair?

After Tasha Smith is dumped yet again because of her virginity, decides it’s time to stop saving herself for marriage and start dating like women in the twenty-first century. She sets out to find a man rumored to be good enough in bed to relieve her of the nuisance, but discreet enough to keep her request a secret. Jared Patterson seems like the perfect candidate. Yet after one searing kiss, she wonders if she’ll escape the night unscathed.

Jared’s job as a successful fitness instructor and entrepreneur has helped him keep a string of meaningless relationships from the east to the west coast. After learning the hard way that women can’t be trusted, he has no qualms going from one sex only relationship to the next. Although Tasha is one of the few types of women he avoids—a good girl—the man in him can’t turn down her tempting offer.

What starts out as a onetime thing quickly turns into an affair neither want to stop. But when an unexpected situation drastically alters their relationship, it leaves them both asking if it was Worth the Wait. Read more of this post
