A Malibu Kind of Romance Cover Reveal!

I’m excited to show you all the sexy cover for my next Harlequin Kimani release, A Malibu Kind of Romance. The book is loosely tied to my first Kimani release, A New York Kind of Love. In this book Irvin’s friend, Dante Wilson, falls in love. The sexy playboy is used to getting the woman he wants, but Julie Dominick proves to him that he’ll have to work a little harder to win her love.

Rhythm of their hearts

Slick lines and sweet nothings have zero effect on ambitious real estate developer Julie Dominick. Her love rules have thankfully saved her from dealing with messy relationship complications. But since R & B superstar Dante Wilson hired her to open his new Malibu nightclub, he’s determined to add some pleasure to their business dealings. And Julie’s strategy to protect her heart may not stand up to his seductive appeal.

Growing up in a music dynasty, Dante enjoys all the female attention that comes with his fame. For the first time, he knows what it feels like to be brushed off by someone he’s falling for. When his usual moves fall flat, he has to show Julie the real man behind all the glitz and glamour. Will it be enough to convince Julie that it’s better to break the rules rather than risk losing love’s passionate melody?

A Malibu Kind of Romance doesn’t release until August 1, but you can pre-order your copy on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and wherever e-books are sold.

Love Me As I Am Cover Reveal

Okay, okay, okay, I know you all are ready for the second book in the Caldwell Family Series. I am working super hard to get it ready–which is making my brain hurt, but in the end that’s usually is a good thing.

I still don’t have the final release date, but I am aiming for the end of May or early June. There are these things called a day job, kids, washing and folding clothes, etc. that are seriously eating into my writing time.

Having said all that, and to let you know I’m serious, I’ve got the cover completed and ready to go. Thanks to Cover Fresh Designs for making the 2nd Caldwell Family book cover as hot at the first.

LMAIA Book Cover

This is Jonathan and Renee’s chance at their happily ever after. Even though working on their love is working my creative muscle I’m having fun writing them. I hope you enjoy reading about them.

One Week Only! Making it Real is .99!

The third book in the Henderson Family Series, Making it Real is on sale for only .99 through March 14 at all major ebook markets. If you haven’t slipped between the covers with Kareem Henderson now’s your chance. ūüėČ

After five years in prison, Kareem Henderson is starting his life over. Though business is good at his barbershop, his goal is to open a high-end gentlemen’s salon. But the road back is rough, and he needs connections in the society he once snubbed to make his dream a reality. He just never expected his second chance to come from the sexy female barber he hired last year.

Patrice “Neecie” Baldwin escaped the pressure of being the perfect daughter in one of North Carolina’s most prestigious families to live life on her own. When family responsibilities call her home, she fears going back will expose her to the pressures that nearly ruined her. Neecie needs a shield, and tall, handsome, bad boy Kareem seems impenetrable. So she offers him a deal: If he’ll pretend to be her fiance, she’ll introduce him to all of her well-connected relatives.

But the more time they spend together, the more the irresistible attraction between them builds. They’re from such different worlds, but can this fake relationship make the cut and become something very real?

Time for some updates

So far 2016 has been going pretty dern good. I’m crossing my fingers–and my toes–the remainder of the year goes just as well. I’ve got a few trips lined up, including two really fun writer events. The first is the Romance Writers of America National Conference in San Diego California, July 13-16. It’ll be my first time on the West Coast and the hubby is coming with me. RWA Nationals is always a fun and inspiring time.

Fall Into Romance GraphicThe next fun event is in the fall, but you’d better sign up now. It’s the Fall Into Romance event October 20-24, 2016 at Disneyworld in Florida. This is a reader event where you’ll get to meet some great authors, play fun games (pin the package on the hero, anyone), and learn the secrets of writing romance. The event isn’t until October, but early registration ends in April. Go ahead and sign up now!

On the writing front, I’ll be plugging away throughout the month of March. The second book in my Caldwell Family Series (Love Me As I Am) is with my editor. I’m hoping to have this out in mid-late Spring. I’m working on revisions to my 2nd Harlequin Kimani title (A Malibu Kind of Romance) which releases in August 2016. I can’t wait to show you all the fun and sexy cover. My 3rd Kimani title (which I’m calling Full Court Seduction, we’ll see if they change it, lol) is due to my editor April 1.

Once I complete the above mentioned deadlines I’ve got a few ideas cooking in my head that I need to flesh out. One character is really bugging me to write her HEA. Monique, Kacey’s sister in From One Night to Forever. Stay tuned and I’ll let you know if her story gets some traction.

What are your fun plans for the spring and summer?

Writers Speak a Secret Language

That’s what my mom said as we left the When the Heart Dreams romance reader/writer mixer event this past weekend. And I say, yes we do!

Me chillaxing at the beach retreat.

I’m coming off of an inspirational high after two weekends of writerly heaven. First, was the Destin Divas Retreat (that’s what we nicknamed the weekend). A weekend where 26 women, romance authors of color got together in Destin, FL to learn plotting techniques from the awesome Farrah Rochon. The weekend helped me to not only get better at plotting, but introduced me to some great new author friends.

Last week I participated in the When the Heart Dreams reader/writer mixer. I had a great time meeting new readers and getting to know the fabulous Beverly Jenkins better. She is hilarious and had all of us awestruck “newbie” writers laughing. The weekend was filled with Q&A sessions from NY Times Best Selling authors, Jacquelyn Frank and Madeline Hunter, fantastic food, wine, romance themed games, and a Moulin Rouge party at the end of the weekend. I danced way too much at that party, but hopefully my knees will forgive me.

My parents dropped in on the mixer, and after listening to me and my writerly friends talk she made the “secret language” comment. (I think the conversation on the RITAS sealed the deal). She thinks our entire network of authors and the way we support each other is cool. I must agree with her. These past two weekends have shown me how important it is to connect with authors and readers. To share my love of writing and reading romance with people who feel the same. I feel inspired, and tired, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s been the best reader or writer event you’ve attended?

Bright lights, big passion…

Winning an all-expenses-paid weekend in New York with Hollywood’s sexiest heartthrob makes Faith Logan the envy of women everywhere. This small-town nurse has too many responsibilities, including caring for her aging parents, to be interested in fame or status. But as the sensual celebrity escorts her to exclusive Manhattan nightclubs and glitzy movie premieres, Faith is falling fast for the genuine, charismatic man behind the slick media image.

More used to fanatics and groupies, Irvin Freeman is surprised and intrigued by Faith’s down-to-earth personality. One impulsive kiss turns their private flirtation into public news. But paparazzi and crazed admirers are making her doubt their potential as a couple. Will the pressures of fame cause their love to fade before he can convince her they’ve found their own real-life happy ending?

Say what?!? I made a list!

2015 has been a big year for me, professionally and personally. I started a new day job that’s challenged me. I nearly drowned in “deadline hell” fulfilling writing contracts. My kids started a new school and we moved into a new house.

Every one of those things are blessings that I am truly thankful for. Yes, even the deadline hell. Writing is hard and sometimes I want to just sit on my couch and watch television, but I don’t. Mainly because the story won’t leave my head, but also because of the readers who let me know they like my stories. You guys make me pull out the laptop, surface, cell phone, or notebook to get the next scene written.

Making it Real Cover w QuoteAs 2015 ends today my plans were to do just that: pull up my laptop and write the next scene in my work in progress. Well, time to add jump for joy and act a damn fool for a few minutes. Why? Because Making it Real made the list of Must Read Romances for 2015 by former Happily Ever After contributor at USA Today, Michelle Monkou!

Guys, talk about a completely unexpected surprise. I wish you could see my face. (It’s too early, no selfie). There are SO MANY other great authors on this list. I’m both proud and humbled to be on the list. If you need a great read for the upcoming weekend, look no further.

Wishing many blessings for you and yours in 2016!

Must Read Romances of 2015
